• An MDiv degree prepares students for a career or vocation as a pastor, chaplain, social justice advocate, community organizer, nonprofit leader, and more.
• Learning forms people for diverse kinds of ministry through classroom and online encounters, real-world engagement, and vocational practice.
• Informed by the church's heritage and global witness, students learn to interpret and proclaim the meaning of the gospel, build and sustain congregations, nonprofits, and other communities, nurture relationships grounded in love, and inspire and guide communities of faith in seeking peace and justice through public ministry.
• The program requires 81 credit hours and 800 hours of Field Education.

• Students develop skills of interpretation and contextualization that may support work in teaching, proclamation, and public ministries of justice and reconciliation.
• Students pursuing the MAR degree may specialize in Biblical Studies, Religious Thought, or a custom-designed concentration (General Track).
• All MAR students complete a core curriculum in Bible, theology, ethics, church history, and research methods.
• Learning happens through classroom and online encounters, real-world engagement, and focused research, preparing people for creative and critical engagement with religious traditions and the intersections of religion and various professions.
• Gain a broad familiarity with Christian scriptures, theological traditions, and focused understanding of a particular area of theological study.

• The MAMFT program educates persons with theological or spiritual commitments to become marriage and family therapists competent to practice as comprehensive mental health professionals in a diverse, multicultural, and interfaith world.
• Graduates meet requirements for marriage and family therapy license in most states.
• MAMFT grads will also qualify for AAMFT Clinical Membership.
• Most graduates become licensed marriage and family therapists working in private practice, agencies, or churches. Others choose a dual degree option (MAMFT/MDiv) that leads to ordination as a minister who is trained—and most often licensed—as a marriage and family therapist.
• The program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Marriage and Family Therapy Education (COAMFTE) of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT).
• The program requires 70 credit hours and 300 Hours of Supervised Clinical Practice.

• Can be completed in 2½-3 years attending full time on campus.

• Those who answer a call to seminary may find that they have gifts and passions in multiple disciplines and may need additional education and training for their multi-vocational ministries. For some students, a dual degree program, in which two degrees are earned simultaneously, may be practical for their career objectives.
• Students may apply to and be accepted to more than one master’s degree program at Louisville Seminary and combine the MDiv with the MAMFT or MAR, or the MAMFT with the MAR.
• The Master of Divinity degree may also be completed as a dual degree with one of the following programs at the University of Louisville:
  • Master of Science in Social Work (MSSW) from the Kent School of Social Work
  • Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the School of Business and Public Administration

• The DMin program is an advanced, professional degree for experienced practitioners who have a Master of Divinity degree (or equivalent) from an ATS-accredited school; a 3.0 GPA or higher; a minimum of three years post-MDiv ministry experience or five years consistent professional ministry experience prior to application.
• Three DMin tracks include: Black Church Studies, Advanced Practice of Ministry (APM), and Pastoral Care & Counseling.
• Tracks are designed to offer flexible, advanced training that leads to doctoral-level competence in a wide variety of areas, depending on which track you pursue—preaching, pastoral care, Christian education, evangelism, mission, worship, congregational development and redevelopment, and community organizing.
• We passionately pursue academic excellence for the sake of the Gospel and the healing of humankind, equipping leaders with the skills and knowledge needed to provide Gospel-focused leadership and care to diverse individuals and communities.
• 36 credit hours
• The program is fully accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) and the Association of Theological Schools (ATS).

• Can be completed in 3 years.
• Correspondence, low residency.
• Cohorts begin in January of each year.
