Faculty, Marriage and Family Therapy Program

JOB SUMMARY:

As our marriage and family therapy (MFT) program expands, Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary seeks a tenure-track colleague, open rank, to join our faculty. Our MFT program is nationally recognized and Commission on Accreditation for Marriage and Family Therapy Education (COAMFTE)-accredited.

Louisville Seminary’s MFT program is set in the context of a seminary with a history of academic excellence and strong clinical training. The MFT program prepares students for professional practice of systemic therapy that is theologically and spiritually informed. MFT faculty work with students and colleagues in all of the seminary degree programs: Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy; Master of Divinity; Master of Arts (Religion); Doctor of Ministry.

Our family therapy program includes a pastoral counseling model of meeting clients where they are in order to care respectfully for clients across diverse religious traditions.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

Candidates should be prepared to teach and supervise MFT students from a spiritually and theologically integrated perspective. A strong and demonstrable MFT identity is required including one or more of the following: earned doctoral degree in marriage and family therapy, current AAMFT approved clinical supervisor status, or state licensure as an LMFT.

The ideal applicant will have:

  • A Ph.D. in MFT, pastoral counseling, or an allied degree with a focus in MFT
  • Strong clinical and supervision skills Passion for teaching and student success
  • A collaborative and strong work ethic
  • Deep commitment to social justice and inclusion
  • A theological degree (MDiv, MTS, etc.) and/or deep commitment to ministry

Louisville Seminary offers a full range of benefits including a generous sabbatical policy, professional development assistance, 403b pension benefit, and health insurance. Rank and tenure will be determined on the basis of experience.
