JOB TITLE: Director of Data Management

REPORTS TO: Vice President of Advancement

FLSA STATUS: Exempt

PURPOSE:
The Director of Data Management provides informational services, primarily using the Blackbaud NXT and Raiser's Edge databases, including managing, updating, and analyzing information that pertains to institutional effectiveness, gift management, research statistics, prospect identification and evaluation, solicitation activities, accreditation, and Seminary-wide mailings.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversees the operation of the Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge 7 used for all Seminary offices.
  • Designs and runs reports for Seminary offices by interpreting needs considering the nature and format of database information, e.g. segmented mailings, reports used to file accreditation reports, annual statistical reports, and reports for campaigns.
  • Ensures that the database is maintained in a manner to properly reflect accurate information on alums, donors, prospects (individual, corporate, foundation, etc.) and churches.
  • Performs both reactive and proactive prospect screening/donor research on individuals, organizations, and foundations using electronic processes, the Internet, and library resources.
  • Maintains and promotes protocols to ensure confidentiality and integrity of all records in the alum and donor database.
  • Analyzes, interprets, updates, and formats biographical, professional, and financial information into concise report formats for various fundraising constituencies.
  • Trains and advises Office of Advancement staff with respect to Blackbaud operations, data entry and maintenance, and including support of the Gift Recording Function.
  • Ensures that mailing data files are prepared and processed in a timely, efficient, and cost-effective manner to meet the needs of the Office of Advancement and the entire Seminary community.
  • Analyzes and updates the Blackbaud system to ensure maximum benefit to the entire Seminary community from this source.
  • Maintains the central resource of data collected for trend analysis for compliance, institutional research, effectiveness, and accreditation.
  • Manage the physical donor files.
  • Collaborate with the Finance Department by providing documentation and account balances monthly and annually.
  • Performs other responsibilities as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BA or BS degree, or its equivalent, is preferred.
  • 1-3 years of experience with a data management system in a nonprofit, church, or education setting is required; 3-5 years is preferred. Previous experience with Blackbaud/Raiser’s Edge is highly valued.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Experience with Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge, Blackbaud NXT, and Microsoft Office Suite software preferred.
  • Experience with personal computer and peripheral hardware required.
  • Experience in research using the Internet and printed material required.
  • Strong organizational, project management, and follow-up skills.
  • Analytical and critical thinking skills are required.
  • Positive interpersonal and communications skills are required.
  • Ability to respond with sensitivity and awareness to those with diverse cultural, ethnic, social backgrounds, values, attitudes, and languages.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments and contribute to a positive team culture.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment, maintain confidentiality, and handle sensitive information appropriately.
  • Ability to work occasional evenings or weekends for events and activities.[VC2.1]
  • Knowledge, understanding, and appreciation of Louisville Seminary is highly valued, and a graduate of Louisville Seminary is preferred.
  • Understanding of theological education, seminary formation, ministry preparation, church leadership, or faith-based higher education environments.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Regular office work environment with prolonged periods of sitting at a desk with frequent computer work.
  • Occasional evening and weekend work may be required for events.

COMPENSATION:

  • Full-time, exempt position offering a full range of benefits, including 403b pension benefit and health insurance.
