DAY OF GIVING FAQS

What is LPTS Day of Giving?

It's a special day set aside once a year devoted exclusively to communicating with alums and friends of Louisville Seminary to ask for your help with financial support. As a faith-based nonprofit institution of higher education, we rely on support from individuals (as well as, grants, endowments, and more), to do what we do—which is to educate people to proclaim the Gospel, to care for all, and to work for justice in Communities everywhere. That's why we say YOU are the KEY to our SUCCESS.

How does LPTS Day of Giving work?

We put a lot of planning into this special day. This year we are celebrating by awarding a variety of alums with “Distinguished Alum Awards,” the “First Generation Award”, and the “Faithful Steward” award. It makes sense, because these exceptional individuals showcase the positive influence and impact our alums have in the world.

We also have created three areas of giving, so supporters can designate their gifts for a particular area – Area of Greatest Need, Student Support, Faculty Innovation.

As far as giving – you can give online on April 24, or mail a check and designate it for “LPTS Day of Giving.” We have set goals and will track and report the results of this day as we rally together to position and fund LPTS for great future success.

How can I get involved?

By being on this page, you are already involved, and we thank you for wanting to learn more. We ask for you to make a donation (of any size) and reach out to friends and family to visit this page and give on our 2024 Day of Giving. Share on social media! You are the KEY, because you are a friend of the Seminary. Your influence and voice are important as we raise support this year. Lastly, please continue to pray for the Seminary and our students as we prepare for Commencement this spring, a new cohort this fall, and as we launch asynchronous online learning this fall.

Why should I make a donation on April 24?

This is a special focused day we set aside each year specifically to ask alums and friends for support. We have identified three specific areas of giving, so you can align what’s most important to you with your gift. Your support is vital to the ongoing programs and mission of LPTS and this day is an opportunity to be counted among those who are key to the future of Louisville Seminary.

Can I make a gift before April 24?

Of course! If sending a check, we ask that you designate on the check that it is for the 2024 Day of Giving, so we can tally your gift with the ones made on that day. If giving online, at LPTS.edu/forms/donate, please note in the “Leave a Comment” section that your gift is for the 2024 Day of Giving.

Is my gift tax deductible?

Donors may deduct contributions to LPTS as provided in section 170 of the tax code.

How will I get a receipt for my donation?

You will receive an email receipt from the Office of Philanthropy and Stewardship.

How does the seminary use the donations from Day of Giving?

  • The Area of Greatest Need Fund provides flexible, immediate-use dollars to enrich campus life. Simply, it helps fund everything that makes LPTS special.
  • Gifts made for Student Support provide tuition assistance which helps attract and educate students. Your gifts provide financial aid, making LPTS affordable for more students.
  • Gifts made for Faculty Innovation help develop our faculty’s many gifts, supporting their innovation, research, and even how they teach—opening new pathways for students to access an LPTS education
