Announcing faculty position in History of Christianity

by Louisville Seminary | Apr 24, 2008
Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary is seeking a faculty colleague in the History of Christianity. This is a three-year term appointment, beginning September 2008. The successful candidate should be prepared to teach a two-semester foundational course in global Christian history with an emphasis on cultural and inter-religious encounters, as well as advanced courses in specialized fields appropriate to theological preparation for ministry. Applicants should have a Ph.D. or comparable degree. Applications from women and persons of color are especially encouraged.

Rooted in Reformed theological tradition, Louisville Seminary is an increasingly diverse ecumenical community deeply committed to multicultural and anti-racist efforts. Candidates thus should have strong commitments to multicultural teaching and to addressing issues of reconciliation and justice in the worship, thought, and service of the Church.

Louisville Seminary offers Master of Divinity, Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy, Master of Arts in Religion, Master of Theology, and Doctor of Ministry degrees, as well as a number of dual degree programs; a certificate program for lay ministry is offered and one in Black Church Studies is under development. Candidates should be prepared to join our faculty in teaching students enrolled in all our degree programs. Enjoyment of collegial cooperation and conversation is a must.

Louisville Seminary is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion (except as religion may be a bona fide occupational qualification for certain positions at the Seminary), sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, veteran status, or disability.

Resumes and a list of at least three references should be sent to President Dean K. Thompson, 1044 Alta Vista Road, Louisville, KY 40205-1798. Review of applications will begin May 15, 2008.
