Louisville Seminary announces 2015 Distinguished Alum and First Decade Award recipients

March 18, 2015 (LOUISVILLE, Ky.) – Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary recently announced the recipients of the 2015 Distinguished Alum Award and First Decade Award.

DISTINGUISHED ALUM AWARD
Established in 1986, the Distinguished Alum Award is given to a graduate of Louisville Seminary who has made a lasting impact on the church and society through outstanding professional, volunteer or philanthropic accomplishments; and/or who has advanced the seminary's mission, thereby, enhancing Louisville Seminary's impact on the church and future generations of students. The 2015 Louisville Seminary Distinguished Alum Award recipients are:

Rev. Dr. Amanda Ragland (MDiv ’88; DMin ’89)
Amanda and Jack RaglandCo-founder and executive director of The Vine Pastoral Counseling Center in Huntsville, Alabama; former (and the first) director of Louisville Seminary’s Counseling Ministry program; former clinical staff member for Louisville Seminary’s Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy program; and former Louisville Seminary adjunct professor.

Rev. Dr. Jack Ragland (MDiv ’88; DMin ’89)
Co-founder and clinical director of The Vine Pastoral Counseling Center in Huntsville, Alabama; former clinical staff member and supervisor for Louisville Seminary’s Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy program; former interim director of Louisville Seminary’s Field Education program; and former adjunct faculty member.

Rev. Dr. Rebecca (Becky) Balenger Smith Ritchey (MDiv ’92) (posthumously)
Becky RitcheyFormer nurse with the Mission Board of the Presbyterian Church in Chunju, South Korea; former interim director of Louisville Seminary’s Continuing and Lay Education program; former director of Louisville Seminary’s Spiritual Direction program; former teacher at Honam Theological Seminary in Kwangu, South Korea; and was instrumental in the development of the labyrinth on Louisville Seminary’s campus.

FIRST DECADE AWARD
In 2012, Louisville Seminary added a First Decade Award, which is presented to a recent graduate who has made a significant impact on the church and in her/his community in the first five to nine years of ministry and service. The 2015 Louisville Seminary First Decade Award recipient is:

Rev. Dr. Jamesetta Ferguson (MDiv ’06; DMin ’13)
Jamsetta FergusonSenior pastor at St. Peter’s United Church of Christ in Louisville; president of Molo Village Community Development Center; business administrator and clinical practice manager at the University of Louisville School of Medicine’s Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine; and a Bingham Fellow.

Louisville Seminary Distinguished Alum and First Decade Award recipients will be formally recognized at the Distinguished Alum and First Decade Award Reception and Dinner, which will take place Monday, April 13, at Louisville Seminary’s Gardencourt. The reception begins at 4:30 p.m. with the dinner to follow at 5:30 p.m. Tickets for the event are $30 each. The event is part of Louisville Seminary’s 2015 Festival of Theology and Alum Reunion.
