LPTS will mark end of spring semester with Service of Sacred Music

Apr 21, 2008
A Festival Service of Sacred Music will take place at Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary on Friday, April 25, at 10:00 a.m. in Caldwell Chapel during the regular Friday chapel service. The public is invited to attend.

The service will feature The Seminary Choir, Instrumental Ensemble, and Organ, under the direction of Dr. Thomas Goetz, Seminary Choir Director, Organist, and adjunct Professor of Music. The theme of this musical worship service is Bread for the Journey.

“In Christ we find healing grace, and through our worship and celebration of the Lord’s Supper we are strengthened to share that healing grace,” said Goetz.

The service will include congregational singing, anthems, and spirituals by the Seminary Choir, and the sacrament of Holy Communion. Communion is open to all who seek the grace of Christ.

Goetz, who has served Louisville Seminary since 1996, is also Director of Music Ministries at Second Presbyterian Church in Louisville, and serves on the national Committee on Seminary and Denominational Relations of the American Guild of Organists. He earned both his master’s and doctor’s degrees in church music at Northwestern University, where he was Organist at Alice Millar Chapel, the university chapel.
