The mission of Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary is to educate men and women to participate in the continuing ministry of Jesus Christ.
The Graduate Profile Book for 2002 has been completed and will be distributed to Presbyteries across the nation in December.
This booklet is designed to introduce presbyteries and congregations to the Seminary’s May 2002 Masters of Divinity graduates who are seeking ways to fulfill their calls to ministry. These students come from different backgrounds and bring very different work histories and gifts to the ministry of Jesus Christ.
These students have been involved in an educational program designed to integrate the academic, practical, and spiritual dimensions of ministry. They have been involved in field education in congregations or social or denominational agencies and in Clinical Pastoral Education. They have been part of a community life of worship, spiritual formation, and mutual Christian care. These students are well prepared to lead a congregation to more faithful ministry and in the critical issues and social struggles of our time as well as to lead worship and to offer pastoral care.
Each graduate is represented by a profile of him or herself, listing prior experiences as well as hopes for continuing the ministry of Christ in the world. These students may be contacted individually. However, please be aware that each is at a different stage of the process of seeking a call. Some will have Personal Information Forms on file with the Churchwide Personnel Services of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) and will be actively seeking a call. Other students, because all ordination examinations have not been passed or candidacy requirements of the Book of Order have not yet been met, are not permitted by the Committee on Preparation for Ministry to talk with Pastor Nominating Committees. Each student will inform you of his or her status. Louisville Seminary asks that you honor that status and devise a way that the student notifies your PNC when he or she is approved to enter into conversation.
In late spring, the profiles of December 2002 graduates will be added to the website.
As Director of Vocational Formation, it is a joy to introduce this group of students to you. I am confident that with their theological education and deep commitment to serve God, they will provide needed leadership for the work of the church in the world. I hope you will consider inviting a Louisville graduate to be a part of your congregation’s or agency’s ministry. I am here to work with you in ways you would find helpful.
