Annual Lessons and Carols to feature local award-winning vocalist
An award-winning local vocalist will be featured in “My Soul Glorifies God,” this year’s Service of Lessons and Carols for Advent and Christmas on Friday, Dec. 7 at Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary.
This annual event features the Seminary Choir, led by The Reverend Dr. Louie Bailey, and readers from the Louisville Seminary. The service will begin at 11:30 a.m. in the Frank H. and Fannie W. Caldwell Chapel. The event is free and open to the public.
This year, Joshua Steinbach, a junior at Highlands Latin School who recently won an Honorable Mention with Distinction in the 2012 WUOL Classical Young Artist Competition, will be a featured soloist. Steinbach also recently won second place in the University of Kentucky vocal competition.
A variety of hymns, anthems and scripture readings will be shared. The Seminary Choir includes Seminary employees, members of the student body and faculty and individuals from the Louisville community. These individuals rehearse each week and provide worship leadership at chapel services during the academic year.
Immediately following the service, an “Apples for Advent” reception, featuring foods made with apples, will be held in the Winn Center. For more information or directions to campus, visit www.lpts.edu or call Louisville Seminary at 502.895.3411.
