The lecture paid homage to the accomplishments of Dr. Katie Geneva Cannon as a womanist scholar and ethicist, by presenting a womanist ethical analysis of the permanence of racism, the erasure of education, and the relevance of religion for those who are interested in forging a justice-making moral agency.

Installation of Cláudio Carvalhaes as Assistant Professor of
Worship and Preaching
As part of the 155th Spring Convocation Service, February 7, 2008, Dr. Cláudio Carvalhaes was installed as Assistant Professor of Worship and Preaching. Carvalhaes, who began teaching at LPTS in August, delivered the convocation address, “The Liturgical Space as a Territory" (John 4: 1-30), in which he inspired listeners to consider worship space as territory, marked by social, political, sexual, and economic boundaries, and how such an understanding should create in us a heightened sense of global awareness and anticipation in how we worship God. The service was planned with rich international textures and meanings and included a multi-sensory experience of liturgy.
