as a Second Language

Incoming
international students take an intensive English seminar
in the summer before entering the Seminary. This course covers
four main areas: Speaking--stops, continuants, rhythm., contractions,
idioms; Notetaking-cues, predicting; Reading-previewing, skimming,
clustering; Writing-American writing culture, inclusivity,
thesis, summary, revision, documentation. Additionally, international
students meet with the director once a week as a group once
a week and once a week individually.
Learning
Disabilities
Specialized
support is designed for each student with a documented learning
disability. The services may include tapes, extended time
for tests and assignments, supplemental notetakers, and one-on-one
tutoring. Faculty, administrators, and staff also participate
in the design and implementation of the support services.
