AREA A - Biblical Studies
Faculty:  Bos, Johanna W. H.
In Area A core requirements include:
    1. Scripture I and II
    2. The Elements of Biblical Hebrew and Introduction to Old Testament Exegesis
    3. The Elements of New Testament Greek and Basic New Testament Exegesis
    4. Additional six hours of biblical electives including an additional exegesis course beyond the basic exegesis courses listed above.

For MA (Religion), and MAMFT candidates, Area A core requirements include: Scripture I and II
MA (Religion) candidates have additional requirements depending on their area of specialization.

AREA B - Theology, History and Ethics
For M.Div. Candidates, Area B core requirements include:

1. Faith Seeking Understanding
2. History of Christian Experience I and II
3. Core Theology*
4. Core Ecclesial Traditions**
5. 2 Electives

For MA (Religion) and MAMFT candidates, Area B core requirements include:
1. Faith Seeking Understanding
2. History of Christian Experience I and II
MA (Religion) candidates have additional requirements, depending on their area of specialization.

*Core Theology course are limited-enrollment elective classes that include a constructive theological component and focus on student writing.
**Core Ecclesial Traditions courses involve close study of historical and ecclesial traditions that are especially formative for a student's contexts of ministry. This requirement is ordinarily satisfied by a course in the student's denominational history and doctrine.

AREA C - Practical Theology

In Area C, core requirements include:
    1. Practical Theology in a Congregation
    2. Basic Preaching
    3. Intro. to Worship
    4. Teaching Ministry course
    5. Pastoral Care & Counseling course
    6. Mission/Evangelism course
    7. For MAMFT candidates selected 200, 300, and 400 PC, PT courses are required.
