The President's Roundtable

President's Roundtable 2011

The President’s Roundtable was established by action of the President and the Board of Trustees of Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary in the spring of 1995.

Affectionately known as the PRT, this ecumenical body of laity and clergy works with Louisville Seminary to support, educate, and influence one another through:

  • Studying contemporary issues facing the Church and theological education today, and
  • Building and maintaining mutual communication and support between Louisville Seminary and the congregations, governing bodies, and denominational offices served by the Seminary.

Topics covered in recent meetings include:

  • Multi-Cultural Learning Experiences
  • Strategic Planning and Visioning
  • The Louisville Seminary Branding process—recently undertaken and launched
  • Student Call & Learning Experience
  • Louisville Seminary’s Scholarships for Excellence program
  • The Pastoral Search process:  How it functions and the role seminaries play
  • Spirituality and the practice of lectio divina
  • The Admissions process:  How it works and the role churches and advocates play

President's Roundtable MembersMembers, generally, serve two to three three-year terms, which are renewable for both parties.  The total number of members ranges from 30 to 50, depending on expiring terms and other variables.  Attendance at the annual event is strong year in and year out.

The PRT is convened annually during the month of September, and the meetings span a full day on Friday through Saturday morning, with a departing meal at lunch.  Out of town members travel in on Thursday and are welcomed for dinner in the President’s Home with local members.  New member orientation is Friday morning over breakfast.

The Seminary provides all meals, which typically includes a special event off-campus at a Louisville landmark on Friday evening, and lodging in our on-campus conference center facilities, the William and Ellen Laws Lodge.  PRT members provide transportation. Dress during the meetings is business casual with the occasional dress dinner.
